abstraction

february 3 - 7 2020

abstraction is my very first solo exhibition, featuring a variety of multimedia works including painting, sculpture, and interactive drawings to engage the viewer. this exhibition highlights ideas of abstraction, what it means to use recycled and found objects in artworks, as well as experimentation in curating and installing an exhibition. abstract painting and sculpture were my passion at this early stage of my career, and i wanted to showcase them, and initiate the beginning to my path as an artist. this exhibition challenges the standard of art making and what can be deemed as ‘fine art.’ materials do not need to be expensive or high quality in order to create artwork. all that mattered in this exhibition, for me, was having the confidence to showcase my work in a gallery setting, and being a part of a new experience, gaining essential knowledge and skills that directly connect to my practice today.
