ties, threads, tread

january 26 2023

the multimedia group exhibition ties, threads, tread presents paintings, prints, and a textile installation on the basis of childhood, memory, and nostalgia. together, the artworks create a dialogue between the nostalgia for childhood memories and unique relationships with those moments. the artworks build on the loss of time, and simultaneously the attempts to capture fleeting and passing moments as a way of holding ties and connecting to roots. by dealing with the emotional spaces that occupy our notions of childhood and roots, these artworks reveal the vulnerability in processing the tensions in outgrowing periods of life. the artworks in this exhibition work individually and collectively to describe the ephemeral qualities of childhood memories as well as the distortion they undergo in the mind over time.
